3D PRINT A CAR CHALLENGE

In what has now become a WRSC tradition, we will again be sending two teams to this year's 3D Print a Car Challenge which will be held at Quantum in August. As some of our experts are now in Year 11, we are recruiting some younger Year 9 students this year so as to mentor them in order to continue our involvement in future years.

COLONISING MARS

Our Place in Space students will be attending some interesting workshops at the Victorian Space Science Education Centre in August.

A deadly virus has infected the human population and all human life on Earth will be wiped out. A small colony needs to be set up on Mars. Some self-assembly pods have already been sent, along with limited equipment. It won’t be safe to return to Earth for at least 100 years so we will need to Colonise Mars to save Humanity!

Students will be working in  teams of six and taking on roles such as: Astrobotanist and Aerospace Engineer as they undertake this mission.

AUGMENTED REALITY SANDBOX

Our amazing IT gurus, Tom and Dom, have made an augmented reality sandbox. It is like having a 3D topographic map that you can change. Have a look at the photo, check it out on a few Youtube clips or come down to A20 and have a play!

YEAR 8 SCIENCE

Mythbusters watchout - there are some budding young science presenters amongst our year 8 students! They have been developing and filming their own science TV programs to explain a chemistry concept that they have learnt. Some very professional demonstrations and experiments were conducted with very entertaining explanations too.
